Before I begin to rant, let me make sure it is understood.  I love my family.  I love my mom, my siblings, and my dad.  I just can’t be around them for more than a few hours at a time, particularly my sister.

I spent many a thanksgiving with my ex-boyfriend Alexi and years ago, one thanksgiving we didn’t spend together, he asked me what I was going to do at my mom’s. My response was the same response that I give today  “My plan is to eat lots of chocolate and start drinking alcohol.”
While making my shopping list this morning I wrote down “ALCOHOL!!!” to which my mother replied “But no one drinks in this house.”  “I do.  And I need it to make it through today.  I can’t go today without drinking.  I just can’t.”  I bought some of the cheapest wine I could find, it was even more economical than the boxed wine.  I bought some cheap cream liquor.  I am rocking it.  If anyone wants a funny conversation partner call me in about an hour.  Have happy thanksgiving!

God Bless America. Like the founders of this great nation we continue to carry the White Man’s Burden. We are duty bound to enter into God forsaken places like Iraq in order to bring them Democracy. Here in Ohio we believe in dying for democracy, in fighting for democracy, but really can’t that wait until after the Ohio State University vs Michigan University football match? ( It is joked that this rivalry started with a disagreement over whether Toledo belonged to Ohio or Michigan and that Ohio lost the argument.) The Franklin county election officials have decided to delay counting the votes by more than two weeks until after OSU has played Michigan. Seriously, I do not know who my congressional representative is going to be because they have put off counting the votes until after the college football game.

We can “fight” for democracy abroad but we can’t even count our own votes until after a college athletic event?

I walked into my house last night…a home Charles and I just moved into back in August. I was unlocking the door when one of the neighbors next door, a young college student screamed at me “Nigger Lover!” I wasn’t quite sure I had heard it correctly but my friend Nico was very sure, and so she screamed back “Fuck You!” To which someone screamed back, “Fuck you. You nigger lovers.”

The neighborhood I live in is full of graduate students and young professors, it is neighborhood with an above average level of education, and above average level of political participation. And someone had to go be an idiot. I guess idiots really are everywhere.
